Epoxy and concrete floor contractors specializing in
Protecting Ontario floors
Protect, preserve and upgrade the concrete floors you walk, park and work on every day. Sterling Surfaces installs epoxy, urethane cement and polished concrete systems for commercial and industrial facilities across the Greater Toronto Area and Ontario. Every floor is specified from a documented site assessment with moisture testing, installed to the manufacturer's data sheets and phased around your operations.
First, coat your floors for savings. Bare concrete dusts, absorbs oil and chemicals and spalls at the joints. A specified coating or polish seals the slab and takes the abuse, so you avoid the cost of extra cleaning, floor repairs and concrete replacement caused by:
Second, a protective floor changes how a facility reads. Light-reflective finishes cut lighting load, marked aisles and hazard zones keep people and forklifts apart, and seamless coved floors pass the audits that food, beverage and pharmaceutical facilities face. Sterling Surfaces installs high gloss, semi-gloss and matte finishes, with slip-resistant texture wherever the floor gets wet.
Beyond the floor itself, you get a written assessment report and specification before any work starts, so you know what is going down, why, and how long it will last.
Compare systemsIndustrial epoxy for warehouses, production floors and docks.
Urethane cement and novolac where ordinary epoxy fails.
The substrate work that decides whether a floor lasts.
Densified, polished slabs for distribution and commercial space.
Durable striping that survives forklifts.
Waterproof, salt-resistant decks for commercial parking structures.
Where every project starts.
Keep the floor in service and the warranty valid.
The right system depends on traffic, chemical exposure, slab moisture and how long you can be down. The assessment settles it.
| System | Best for | Strengths | Limits | Return to service |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| High-build epoxy | Warehouses, production floors, mechanical rooms | Lowest cost per sq ft, strong adhesion, easy to clean | Yellows under UV without a topcoat | 3 to 5 days |
| Epoxy with urethane topcoat | Forklift aisles, shops, daylight areas | Abrasion and scratch resistance, colour stable | Adds a day | 3 to 5 days |
| Polyaspartic | Fast-track jobs, retail, light industrial | Cures in hours, UV stable, works in cold | Higher material cost, thinner build | 24 hours |
| Urethane cement | Food and beverage, kitchens, breweries, wash bays | Thermal shock, hot washdown, acids and sugars, moisture tolerant | Highest cost, limited colours | 24 to 48 hours |
| Novolac epoxy | Chemical storage, battery rooms, process areas | Concentrated acids, caustics, solvents | Amber tint, needs a topcoat in impact zones | 3 to 5 days |
| Polished concrete | Distribution centres, showrooms, corridors | Nothing to wear through, lowest lifetime maintenance | Not for chemical or wet process areas | Immediate |
| Traffic coating | Parking decks, ramps, loading areas | Waterproof, flexible, salt resistant | Needs recoat every 5 to 7 years in drive lanes | 24 to 72 hours |

Standard epoxy returns to foot traffic in about 24 hours and forklift traffic in 3 to 5 days. Polyaspartic and urethane cement can return in 24 to 48 hours. We phase by zone so the whole floor is never down at once.
Moisture vapour through the slab is the leading cause of coating failure. Relative humidity testing tells us whether a standard system will hold or a mitigation layer is required.
Polished concrete wins in dry, high-traffic areas: nothing to wear through and the lowest lifetime maintenance. Epoxy or urethane cement wins wherever there is chemical exposure, wet process or washdown. Many facilities use both.
Yes. Most industrial work is done nights, weekends or during planned shutdowns, in zones agreed with your maintenance or operations lead.
Nothing. The site assessment and written report are free for commercial and industrial facilities in the Greater Toronto Area. Other Ontario locations on request.
